Madness has been one of the most successful bands in the world for many years. The London group is known for its unique mix of reggae, pop, punk, and, of course, ska. Add a hefty dose of humor and the occasional socially critical note, and you get the repertoire of Madness. The band was formed in 1979 in Camden Town and made their breakthrough in their debut year with the album One Step Beyond, which featured now-classic tracks like “Night Boat To Cairo,” “My Girl,” and “One Step Beyond.” In the following years, the group scored one worldwide hit after another. “Baggy Trousers,” “Embarrassment,” and the iconic “Our House” quickly became classics and are still played everywhere today. The band’s success was not just beginner’s luck, as their later albums The Liberty Of Norton Folgate (2009), Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da (2012), and Can’t Touch Us Now (2016) were also well-received by fans.
AFAS Live is no longer an unfamiliar venue for the British group. In 2010 and 2012, the band brought the house down at the Amsterdam venue. In 2019, they added their exclusive anniversary show Madness XL, celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary. Three years later, the band returned to Amsterdam as part of their The Great European Road Trip tour. It promised to be an unforgettable Madness party, packed with the band’s classics. Time to dust off those “Baggy Trousers” and join the “House Of Fun” at AFAS Live on July 9, 2022!
